Herdsmen clash with police: 4 officers missing
Four mobile policemen deployed to Ayinlamo, in Logo Local government area of Benue to protect farmers against herdsmen militia have been declared missing.
A detachment of the Mobile Unit came under heavy attack by suspected herdsmen militia yesterday at about 2: 30 pm but the number of casualties suffered on the part of the militia is yet to be identified.
According to the Benue state command Police Public Relations officer, ASP Moses Yamu, in a statement, said the Police Mobile Force teams after conducting a robust patrol in Ayinlamon were attacked while returning to camp and one of the police vans caught fire during the gun battle.
The PPRO maintained that the police will not be deterred or relent in its effort to ensure adequate security of lives and property, stressing that effort is on to locate the whereabouts of the missing policemen.
Ayilamo, is one of the communities in Logo local government area that came under attack on the first of January 2018, where lives were lost and same place where two mobile policemen were first killed.
