IGP Presents N2.4bn Cheques To 1,075 Families Of Deceased Police Officers
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has presented cheques worth over ₦2.4 billion to 1,075 beneficiaries and next-of-kin of deceased police officers under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes.
The presentation, held on Wednesday in Abuja, covered policy years from 2018 to 2026, including long-outstanding insurance claims, with Disu describing the exercise as a commitment to honour the sacrifices of fallen officers.
He reaffirmed that the welfare of personnel remains a top priority, noting that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to strengthen its welfare systems, improve efficiency, and ensure timely payment of entitlements to families of deceased officers.
Force Insurance Officer, CSP Lydia Ameh, commended the leadership of the Inspector General, noting that his interventions had led to the recovery of long-outstanding claims. She reaffirmed the insurance unit’s commitment to maintaining high standards of service in support of police personnel and their families.
