Ondo: Workers Threaten Strike Over Unpaid Salary
Workers in Ondo state have begun two days warning strike charging the state government to pay all outstanding deductions.
The civil servants are complaining of nonpayment of all deductions such as cooperative and thrift societies, shilling funds and monthly loans repayment deductions for the month of September, October, November and December.
A circular distributed by the state chapter of the National Labor congress NLC, described the situation as an exposure of government’s insensitivity to the plight of workers and the masses at large.
The warning strike which starts today will end tomorrow and labor union has declared that if their demands are not met, a full strike shall be embarked upon thereafter. When our correspondent visited the state secretariat this morning, the place was deserted while all office doors were under lock and keys.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, officials of the labor union are at a round table discussion with government officials to find a solution to the imbroglio so as to forestall escalation of the situation.
