FCTA Workers Launch Three-Day Protest over Unpaid Salaries and Welfare Issues in Abuja

Workers at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) Secretariat in Abuja have commenced a three-day protest from June 30 to July 2, 2025, organized by the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The protest targets the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, over his refusal to address longstanding staff welfare issues, including non-promotion of staff since 2023, unresolved salary administration problems, unpaid entitlements, and illegal deductions.
Galaxy Television reports that the protest follows months of industrial unrest in the FCT, with strikes affecting primary health centres, public schools, and area council Secretariat. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and affiliated unions have threatened to escalate protests and shut down Abuja after July 3 if demands are not met.
