Dickson Calls for Transparency Among Political Office Holders

Senator Seriake Dickson, representing Bayelsa West, has called on political office holders to see public office as an avenue to serve humanity and not a platform for personal enrichment.

Dickson, a former Governor of Bayelsa State, at the National Assembly complex while receiving recognition from a coalition of 23 civil society organisations for his transparency and prudence in public service, urged leaders at all levels to entrench transparency and modesty in governance.

The groups commended the Senator for sponsoring a transparency bill that later formed part of the law in Bayelsa State, as well as for maintaining what it termed a prudent and modest lifestyle, despite his political achievements.

The group further commended Dickson for being a voice for the voiceless and for consistently standing for fairness and truth in public office.

The Senator tasked the groups to look out for other forthright Nigerians in all sectors across Nigeria.

Dickson maintained that his personal creed is service to humanity, and service to God. He stated that public officials are accountable to both the people and to God.
