Youths, Students Sustain Protest In Ogun, Demand Immediate Release of Abducted Oyo School Pupils

Residents, students, and youth groups in Ogun State, on Tuesday, sustained their protest in Abeokuta, demanding immediate release of pupils, students, and teachers kidnapped in Oyo State.

The protesters, who commenced protest on Monday, marched from Panseke to Okelewo, urging the Federal Government and security agencies to act swiftly.

The victims were abducted a fortnight ago by bandits who invaded the Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School in the Ahoro-Esiele/Yawota axis of Ogbomoso, Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State.

Concerned citizens described the government's response as slow, stressing that the abducted children are too young to endure such traumatic conditions.

Meanwhile, public schools in Oyo State have been closed for safety reasons as efforts continue to secure the release of the victims. Also, the teachers have commenced indefinite strike on the order of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT.

Teachers protest spread to Lagos in the early hours of Tuesday.
