UBEC moves to revitalize Zonal and State offices for Educational Development
The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has emphasized the urgent need to revitalize its Zonal and State Offices to improve basic education delivery across Nigeria.
During a two-day meeting on Wednesday with UBEC management, zonal directors, and state coordinators, UBEC Executive Secretary Dr. Hamid Bobboyi stressed the importance of shifting towards more localized management.
GALAXY TV reports that Bobboyi highlighted past inefficiencies, stating that, there was a point where staff sent from the Headquarters to the States wouldn't even visit the Zonal and State offices to announce their presence.
He further explained that various departments would carry out activities in the States without involving the UBEC State Offices saying this disconnect led to poor monitoring of projects, which is one of the Commission’s key functions.
These issues, he said, have negatively affected the Commission’s efficiency and reputation, contributing to increased redundancy, absenteeism, and a significant drop in morale among field staff.
