Displaced flood victims seek relief materials
Victims of flood disaster camped at the international market in Makurdi are calling on the state government for more relief materials to help them overcome the challenges of the moment.
The victims who spoke to Galaxy television at the camp in Makurdi, the state capital, complained that they lacked some of the basic minimum relief materials to cope in the camp, stating that would also require assistance to enable them return back to their homes.
The displaced victims have being on the camp for about two weeks since the incidence.
Many have returned while others are yet to return to their homes due to the devastating effect on their homes.
The deputy governor who is the state chairman of the relief committee, Benson Abounu, who led chairmen of affected local government areas, directed the distribution of the food items to the displaced in the camp.
The state deputy governor cautioned the victims that no one should take the items out of the camp, promising that more relief materials would be distributed to them and other affected local government areas.
Galaxy television correspondent, observed that the relief materials in the camp particularly the beddings may not be enough as more assistance is been sought to help cushion the effect on the number of people affected.
