The Police, responding to distress call, chased kidnappers, who abandoned their victims and vehicle and fled into the bush along Port Harcourt Expressway, Enugu, Enugu State.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Command, Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement disclosed that police operatives attached to the Anti-Cultism Sub-Unit of the Violent Crime Response Unit, with support from Neighbourhood Watch and community members have rescued the three kidnapped victims.

According to the PPRO, the police in a swift response to credible intelligence received while on patrol along the Port Harcourt expressway, Enugu, concerning a carjacking and abduction of occupants of a Lexus RX 350 car by armed hoodlums, went into hot pursuit of the criminals, who abandoned their vehicle, firearms before fleeing into the forest.

The PPRO said the kidnapped three victims rescued unharmed were taken into safety. He stated that items recovered include one locally fabricated Baretta-like pistol loaded with five rounds of 9mm live ammunition, one locally made Cut-to-size firearm, one live cartridge, a mask and other incriminating items.
