Amotekun Clears Air on Oyo Shooting

The Commandant of the Western Nigeria Security Network, otherwise known as Amotekun in Oyo State, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd) has cleared air on the case of his officer that shot a police officer in Oyo town saying it was a case of accidental discharge.

Recall that an official of Amotekun at last weekend shot a constabulary police officer in Oyo and during an official duty.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that Olayanju while speaking with Journalists on the incident disclosed that the preliminary investigation conducted by police and his men revealed it was a case of accidental discharge.

He stated that Amotekun decided to handover the officer involved to the police in order to show to the public that there is no sacred cow in the corp.

On the activities of the corps since it commenced operations about a month ago, Col. Olayanju (rtd) said Amotekun has successfully handled over 30 cases adding that this has been done with the support of other security agencies in the state.

He called for the cooperation and support of the residents towards ensuring safety of lives and property.
