Ogun PDP Condemn Defection of Speaker To SDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has said that the defection of the former speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) will not pose any threat to its electoral fortunes in the 2015 general elections.
The party Chairman, Bayo Dayo stated this while answering questions from newsmen during the inauguration of the state's 35-man Governorship Campaign Committee at the party secretariat in Abeokuta said the party has been reposition to weather the storm of the elections.
Correspondent Kunle ojo reports that the party chairman noted that Bankole who boycotted the governorship primary election of the party in the state and was recently reported to have emerged the governorship candidate of the SDP, lacks electoral values that could ensure victory at the polls.
He described Bankole as nothing more than a paper weight politically, stressing that the former speaker lost his re-election bid into the House of Representatives in 2011 because he could not win his constituency which is just one local government.
All attempt to get in touch with the former speaker, Dimeji Bankole for his reaction on the allegation from the Peoples Democratic Party was not successful as his mobile lines were switched off.
An unconfirmed report has it that the former Speaker has been adopted as the Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the state for the February election.
