The All Progressives Congress, APC, Ogun State, at the party's caucus meeting, adopted Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The decision was announced at the party’s congress in Abeokuta, where leaders and stakeholders unanimously endorsed the senator as consensus flagbearer.

APC State Chairman, Yemi Sanusi, had solicited party unity and collaboration to ensure victory in the 2027 general elections.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State said the decision was aimed at promoting fairness across senatorial districts, essentially, giving Ogun West leadership opportunity after decades.

Accepting the endorsement, Adeola expressed gratitude to party leaders, describing the decision as a product of unity and shared commitment to the state’s progress.

The senator also promised inclusive governance and a renewed drive towards economic growth and prosperity for the state.
