Police Arrest Kidnapper in Anambra
The Police arrested a kidnapper operating in collaboration with a syndicate terrorizing Anambra State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the State Command, Ikenga Tochukwu, in a statement, indicated that the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Emmanuel Chekwube, was arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu.
The PPRO identified him to be a member of a four-man armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate operating around the Ifite/Awka axis of the state.
Other members of the gang, who are also involved in kidnapping unsuspecting members of the public, are presently on the run. Items recovered from the suspect include two pump action guns, one locally fabricated pistol and a Military pattern face cap.
The suspect, according to the police, has confessed to the recent kidnap of a victim who was dispossessed of his valuables, before he was murdered and his corpse abandoned in the bush.
The Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Nnanna Ama, charged the team to go after the fleeing members of the gang.
