"Oga At The Top" Sacked!
Mr. Obafaiye Shem, the man behind “My Oga At Top” syndrome has been replace by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC as commandant of Lagos State Command.
He was replaced by Mr. Adesuyi Clement from Oyo State Command. However, reasons for Obafaye’s removal was not disclosed, insinuations are rife that it may be connected with his recent interview on Channels Television “Sunrise” programme.
The Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Olu Abolurin, speaking in Lagos at the weekend over the alleged killing of two of his officers by some policemen, introduced the new Commandant to journalists.
Before now, authorities of NSCDC have denied taking any disciplinary action against Mr. Shem over the said interview despite ongoing speculations over his suspension. Their reaction followed claims that Shem had been sacked on the orders of the Minister of Interior, who supervises the NSCDC.
Shem’s ordeal started when he appeared on Channels Television morning programme and when asked the NSCDC website the erstwhile Lagos Commandant embarrassingly expressed his ignorance of the his organisation's website.
Clearing his throat when prodded to provide the functioning website address of the para-military outfit Shem said “ww.nscdc ahem (clears throat) thats all”
The embarrassing interview has since gone viral with T-shirts branded in the resulting slogan from Shem “My Oga At The Top” and while some DJs and musicians have done what they called a remix of the phrase, a lot more Nigerians in Diaspora have done different versions of “My Oga At The Top” dance videos and posted on Youtube .
