Kaduna Residents Hold Solidarity Rally For El-Rufai
Residents in Kaduna State held solidarity rally to reinforce confidence in former Governor Nasir El-Rufai on the day of arraignment in court.
The residents went through the streets, and thereafter, converged outside the Federal High Court, Kaduna, where El-Rufai was arraigned by the ICPC on corruption allegations. The people, in their mass protest, challenged the continuous detention of El-Rufai by the APC-government.
The protesters intensified their mass action chanting "Free El-Rufai Now", waving placards with messages like "Justice Delayed is Justice Denied".
The crowd, comprising of young and old, men and women, was visibly agitated, with some weeping uncontrollably.
Community leaders and human rights activists took turns to address the crowd, condemning the detention and demanding Elrufai's immediate release.
The protest was peaceful, but tense, with security agents deployed to maintain order. The residents vowed to stay on, until their demands are met, calling on the court to uphold justice and fairness.
