Edo state Resident Electoral Commission (REC) Mike Igini, says the Independent National Electoral Commission under Professor Attahiru Jega and the state has worked hard to bring trust  and purpose to the electoral process.

According to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, who made this known on the occasion of a farewell meeting with stakeholders in the commissions headquarter in Benin, said no more pre-written election results, incidents of assisted ballot box snatching and stuffing of thumb printed ballot papers.

Mike Igini, the outgoing state resident electoral commissioner who has spent barely five months and four days in Edo express confidence that the commission has successfully restored the integrity and won the trust of the people in the electoral process in the country. He said the use of PVC and Card readers to verify voters’ biometrics in the 2015 elections despite associated challenges no doubt remains a watershed, adding that values were never compromised.

Others who spoke of the outgoing resident electoral commissioner, Mike Igini, are the chairman of All Progress Congress Party (APC) Barr Anslem Ojezua, the state chairman of Edo state Civil Society Organisation, Comrade  Omobude Agho and others, who eulogise the man for being steadfast in all his affairs.

Meanwhile the occasion had the commission giving out commendation letters to deserving staff who performed meritoriously in the last elections. As other dignitaries were present at the ceremony.

Mike Igini, however use the occasion of the farewell ceremony to admonish staffs not to falter on the ideals of the commission and pray God to keep them till they meet somewhere some place again. High point of the occasion was the presentation of gifts.
