Amosun Announces Woman As Running Mate
Barely two months to the conduct of the 2015 election, Ogun state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun Amosun has unveiled his running mate for the Governorship Election.
Addressing leaders of all Progressive Congress, including Local Government Chairmen in Abeokuta, Amosun announced Mrs. Abosede Onanuga, who hail from Aparaki In Ijebu North Local Government of Ogun state as his deputy governor for his planned second term in office.
Our correspondent reports that Amosun said the event marked another watershed in the history of democracy in Ogun state noting that all the point raised by the elders, who had earlier spoken on need for equitable appointment in all the three senatorial districts, would be considered.
Amosun said the appointment of Mr. Onanuga was based on merit and that it was done in compliance with the regulations of the All Progressive Congress in Ogun State.
The Governor assured the women folk in the state of his government determination to carry them along in the administration of the state.
In her remark, the running mate to Governor Amosun for the next year election, Mrs. Onanuga, a Director of Finance and Administration, Lagos State Ministry of Environment commended the Governor for the initiative stressing that it show that the Amosun administration has high regard for the women folk.
She promised her full loyalty to Governor Amosun, the All Progressive Congress and the entire people of Ogun state, especially, the women folk stressing that, she would be committed to serving Ogun State with commitment and full dedication.
Onannuga also assured the women folk in the state of her loyalty promising that she would strive to promote their course if eventually sworn in as the Deputy Governor in the state.
