Youth Parliament Applauds Musa’s Early Security Push, Flags Lingering Challenges
The Oodua Youth Parliament (OYP) has commended the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, for what it described as early but encouraging improvements in Nigeria’s security architecture since his assumption of office in early December 2025.The body however, called for sustained reforms to consolidate the gains and deliver long-term stability.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its Speaker, Hon. Aare Abdulmajeed Oladimeji Oyeniyi, It identified priority areas requiring continued attention, including intelligence fusion and community trust-building, particularly in rural and conflict-prone areas; stronger justice and accountability mechanisms.
The Group maintained that this will ensure prosecutions follow arrests; improved troop welfare, logistics and morale; and expanded civil–military engagement in violence-affected communities. It posited that General Musa’s leadership had brought renewed momentum, clearer strategic direction and improved coordination across the nation’s defence and security institutions at a critical period.
The Parliament reaffirmed its confidence in General Musa’s leadership and pledged its support to the Ministry of Defence in advancing national security reform.
