TUC Cautions FG from Removing Minimum Wage from Exclusive List

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria has cautioned the Federal Government against removing minimum wage from the exclusive list.

Rising from its State Executive Council Meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, the Union described the move as a betrayal of trust stressing that the decision will backfire.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the Chairman of the Union in the state, Comrade Emmanuel Ogundiran who presented the communiqué to Newsmen disclosed that the move will further disenfranchise and impoverished the workers.

Not only this, the meeting equally frowns at the lingering fuel scarcity across the country saying TUC and other labour unions will resist any attempt to increase the price of fuel.

On insecurity, the Union urged the government to intensify more efforts towards the safety of lives and properties of Nigerians adding that the situation is gradually getting out of hand.

On his part, the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Labour Matters, Comrade Bayo Titilola-Sodo thanked the Union for their support for the government saying the present administration will continue to give priority to the welfare of workers.

The Congress thanked the Governor for his unwavering stand on the welfare of workers in the state.
