Operatives of the Rapid response squad of Akwuzu in the Anambra state police command have foiled a planned robbery operation along Ebenebe/Achala road in Awka North local government area of the state.

 

In a statement by the state police command spokesperson Ikenga Tochukwu made available to Galaxy news, the Anti-kidnapping patrol team acted on credible information by a citizen of two armed men being conveyed on a motorcycle along the road.

 

A hot chase on the gunmen, led them to abandoning their weapon after a gun exchange as they fled into the bush.

 

According to the police, two AK 47 rifles loaded with several rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and expensed shells were recovered.

 

The Anambra police commissioner Aderemi Adeoye who commended the team for the gallantry, calls for proactive operations in that part of the state until all criminals are flushed out.
