Police Heighten Raid on Criminal Hotspots
As the festive season approaches, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has heightened its efforts to ensure the safety and security of all citizens. In line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to implement effective crime prevention strategies during this period, the Force has intensified operations nationwide, leading to several successful raids, arrests, and recoveries.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, officers of various state commands have been conducting proactive patrols and raids aimed at dislodging criminal elements. In Lagos State, for instance, operatives of the Lagos Police Command conducted raids on December 14, 2024, targeting criminal hideouts in the Isolo area.
These operations led to the arrest of 43 suspects and the recovery of various exhibits, including significant quantities of cannabis, daggers, swords, and fetish items. Similarly, on December 15, 2024, police arrested a suspect, Charles Orji, in the Isheri Osun area of Lagos. Orji was caught attempting to steal a Toyota Hilux, and a subsequent search uncovered seven different Toyota car keys in his possession.
This proactive approach is being mirrored across the country in critical states such as Kaduna, Zamfara, Taraba, Edo, Delta, Benue, and Niger. The Force has intensified surveillance and implemented coordinated security measures to protect lives and property.
The Nigeria Police Force assured citizens of its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order during the holiday season. As the festive celebrations progress, the public is encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the authorities
