Police deny political linkage in Tarzan Ukpor massacre
Anambra state police command has debunked the allegation that the Tarzan, Ukpor killing was link to any political party in the state.
The institution revealed that the shootout was carried out by men of the command on hot chase of a suspected drug trafficker who was trapped by the grid-luck at Tarzan junction, before a melee ensued and the driver was shot by the police.
Setting the records straight by the press release made available to journalists in the state, signed by the police public relation officer, ASP Nkiru Nwode, disclosed that the killing has no political linkage as it was rumoured in the media.
The document opened that the police officers involved in the unfortunate incident are currently in the police custody, undergoing interrogation at the state command.
They urged the public to desist from spreading negative rumour in the interest of sustainable peace the state had been enjoying.
The release also condemned the action of the mob that set their patrol vehicle ablaze, which led to the death of an approaching motor boy, who sight the angry mob, and fled and got hit by an oncoming vehicle.
Meanwhile, the Anambra spokesperson of the All Progressive Congress, Okelo Madukaife has debunked the claims that the party governorship candidate’s convoy was involved in the unfortunate incident.
Okelo warned the youths and political parties to be sure of what they put out to public in order not to hit-up the polity unnecessarily.
It would be recalled that the unfortunate incident at Tarzan Junction, Ukpor, in Idemili North LGA of Anambra state which claimed two lives.
