Police apprehends ex-governor Sule Lamido
Operatives of the Kano state police command have on Sunday, April 30, apprehended the immediate past governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido.
Lamido was arrested for allegedly inciting his supporters to stop the conduct of local government elections organised by the current administration of Governor Muhammad Badaru.
Lamido, who was arrested at his Sharada Kano home on Sunday morning, was whisked away to the Zone One Command of the Nigeria Police in Kano.
As at 5:30 p.m.on Sunday, the former governor was still being held by the police who are yet to make any official statement on the matter.
Galaxy television observed about six vehicles of the former governor filled with his aides waiting patiently for the release of their boss.
While the aides to the former governor awaits official statement from zone 1 headquarters, Kano, a Senior police officer in mufty said all journalist should leave the premises and return by 7pm for an official statement.
Meanwhile, the council elections have been fixed for July 1.
