The commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Ogun state, Jide Ojuko has said that the synergy between the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSDC) and the Vigilante Service of Ogun State (VSO) would strengthen crime prevention and combating effort in the state.
Ojuko stated this at the sensitization course on grassroot operation for members of the VSO at the NSCDC's college of security management in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
Ojuko however appealed to members of the public to identify with the vigilante service of Ogun in ensuring the state is crime free.
In a similar vein, the assistant commandant general, NSCDC, Southwest and Lagos, Poopola Waheed, while speaking with journalists at the occasion, hailed the initiative, saying the synergy between NSCDC, VSO and among other sister agencies would help secure Ogun and make residents sleep with their two eyes closed.
The Provost of the College, Commandant Awosusi Oluwasefunmi, disclosed that the training of the VSO officers would work in partnership with the NSCDC operatives to curb the menace of cultism, child abuse, kidnapping, vandalism, drugs abuse and other vices in Ogun communities.
