The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare 11, has promised to support the Nigerian Army, 4 Brigade, Benin City, in the fight against kidnappers in Edo State.

The Monarch gave the assurance when the Brigade Commander led other military officers on a visit to the Oba's palace to intimate him on the successes recorded in the fight against kidnappers in forests across the state.

The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, in a statement indicated that the visit is coming a day after the Nigerian Army rescued four kidnap victims and neutralized a notorious kidnapper terrorizing Auchi and environs.

The Oba acknowledged the military's ongoing efforts to strengthen security and protect lives and property across the state, while also suggesting that military operations in the state should be given a codename in the Benin language.

The 4 Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, said the goodwill and collaboration of the Benin throne would further support the Brigade in carrying out its mandate of maintaining peace and security.
