IGP Restates Commitment To Professionalism, Intelligence Policing
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to reforms, professionalism, and intelligence policing in tackling emerging security crises across the country.
Receiving former Inspectors-General of Police at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, Egbetokun said the visit was significant in strengthening institutional memory and collaboration between past and present leadership. He noted that retired IGPs remained critical stakeholders in the development of policing and national security.
He said the Force was improving operational effectiveness through intelligence coordination, inter-agency collaboration, enhanced investigations, and structural reforms, including the upgrading of key units, expansion of the Police Mobile Force, creation of new commands.
Others, according to him, included establishment of a Special Intervention Squad, alongside compulsory ethics training and a merit-based promotion system that had benefited over 141,000 officers.
Former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, commended the reforms, urging officers to support initiatives aimed at repositioning the Force.
The meeting underscored collaboration across generations of police leadership with a shared commitment to building a modern, trusted, and capable Nigeria Police Force.
