IGP Orders Police Commissioners To Make Phone Numbers Available For Community Policing
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, on a visit to Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, re-emphasized his order to commissioners of police across the country to make their telephone numbers available to the public for facile communication in community policing. The IGP noted that this will build trust with residents.
IGP Disu stated that the security situation in Nigeria, today, calls for the collective effort of all stakeholders.
Governor Okpebholo in a brief statement expressed: "Today, I received the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, alongside senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force at Government House, Benin City.
"I congratulated the IGP on his well-deserved appointment and reaffirmed Edo State Government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Police to ensure the safety and security of our people.
"Security remains the foundation upon which sustainable development thrives.
"As a government, we will continue to deepen our partnership with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to strengthen intelligence gathering, and proactive security operations across Edo State.
"I deeply appreciate the sacrifices of our officers and men who work relentlessly to keep our people safe, and I reaffirm our unwavering support towards building a more secure, peaceful, and prosperous Edo State."
