The Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has ordered a massive deployment of security personnel to Plateau State following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.

The assault claimed the lives of several residents and prompted a swift response from the police hierarchy.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, in a statement, indicated that the Inspector-General has redeployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, to Plateau State to assess the situation, coordinate ongoing operations, and reinforce security structures.

Additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives have also been deployed alongside other security agencies to prevent further attacks and restore law and order.

IGP Disu directed all operational commanders to maintain visible policing across the state, emphasizing proactive engagement with communities to detect and deter threats. Security patrols have been increased in vulnerable areas to ensure residents’ safety and prevent reprisals.

Authorities are working closely with local leaders and community vigilante groups to gather intelligence and ensure swift action against perpetrators. Residents are being urged to provide timely information about suspicious movements or activities to support the ongoing operations.

The FPRO stated that security measures will continue until normalcy returns; he reassured citizens of their safety.

The Inspector-General called on the public to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and avoid taking the law into their own hands while investigations are ongoing.
