Ibarapa Youth Protest Incessant Fulani Invasion

Youth from Igangan in Ibarapa land have protested incessant killings of farmers in the community and its environs by the Fulani herdsmen.

Recall that a notable politician was murdered in cold blood in the area last Friday by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The aggrieved youth, with placards of various inscriptions, converged on the Agodi Governor's office in Ibadan to register their displeasure against the dastardly act.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the youths who chanted various slogans urged Governor Seyi Makinde to come to their aids and end illegal acts of Fulani herdsmen in the area.

Some of the youth decried the murdered of Dr Fatai Aborode calling on the state government to investigate the circumstances that led to his death.

They called for the implementation of the law prohibiting open grazing in Oyo state as part of measures to curtail activities of the rampaging herdsmen adding that officers of the Western Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun should be deployed to the grassroots for the security of lives and property.

Responding on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, the Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan commanded the protesters for being orderly adding that the murder of Dr. Aborode remains a deep loss to the government and people of the state.

He declared that the state government has put in place appropriate machinery to investigate circumstances that led to the murder of Aborode calling on the youth to remain calm.

He assured the protesters that the state government will continue to ensure the safety of all residents adding that officers of Amotekun Corp are being empowered to focus on their assignment.
