House of Reps member emerges PDP candidate
A member of the House of Representatives and former speaker of the Kwara House of Assembly, Barr. Abdulrasaq Atunwa has emerged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state.
Atunwa scored 1555 votes to beat his rival, a former governor of the state Muhammed Shaba Lafiagi who scored 576 votes.
Announcing the result, a member of the national electoral committee of PDP Chuks Akwutti says two thousand two hundred and forty-two delegates were accredited with a thirty-seven number of votes as invalid.
Atunwa pleads for the cooperation of members to enable the party to win the general election.
The exercise which started on Sunday was declared inconclusive due to suspicion of disruption of the process half way.
