Displaced persons seek quick govt response

Displaced persons from Adagbabiri community in Sagbama local government area of Bayelsa state have called on the state government to come to their aid, as the devastating effect of the flood has taken away their means of livelihood.


This is coming in less than forty-eight hours after the state governor, Seriake Dickson visited some flooded communities with the promise of palliative measures.

Speaking on the need for urgent measures, the community youth president said they have not witnessed the government's presence.

Schools have since been shut as a result of the flood while the only health center had since been taken over by the flood.

Some displaced persons who are still left in the community and a health worker lamented the hardship.

Some school children and teachers who had visited their schools to ascertain the water level went home disappointed, while the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) who had promised relief materials have since not visited the community.
