Danger averted as youth scoop petrol from falling tanker
Danger was in the early hours of today averted along the Warri/Sapele bridge end in Delta state as a result of the involvement of over a hundred youth scooping fuel from a falling petrol tanker.
The youth which include commercial tricycle operators and taxi drivers, threw caution to the wind as they threaten to deal with journalists who dare to record the scene while it lasted.
Speaking on the dangers of scooping fuel from falling tankers, the sector commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps who was returning from a workshop on crashes condemn the act.
He advised members of the public to learn from the tanker explosion in neighbouring Onitsha in Anambra state which claimed lots of lives and destroyed properties worth millions.
The action of the youths caused panic in the area as people scamper for safety for fear of explosion while those scooping the fuel continued without harassment.
