ADC Inaugurates North-East Zonal Congress Committee, Woo Notable Leaders
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on prominent national leaders to join the party in its mission to reposition Nigeria. The party is currently looking towards the former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to join its fold
The call followed the inauguration of the party’s North-East Zonal Congress Committee in Gombe State on January 11, 2026, presided over by Dr. Muhammad S. Muhammad. The exercise is part of ADC’s effort to strengthen party structures, deepen internal democracy, and expand its influence across the region.
In a communiqué signed by ADC National Chairman Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe, the party described the inauguration as a significant step toward ensuring credible and transparent congresses across the North-East zone. The communiqué confirmed the ratification and appointment of key officials, with Engr. Mrs. Patience Alex named Chairperson of the North-East Zonal Congress Committee and Mr. Abayomi Adekunle as Chairman of the Zonal Appeal Committee.
The ADC emphasized that the participation of distinguished statesmen and experienced leaders is crucial in advancing its mission to rebuild and reposition the country. The party reiterated its commitment to providing a credible, inclusive, and progressive platform dedicated to good governance, national unity, accountability, and sustainable development.
ADC leaders said they remain focused on mobilizing Nigerians across all regions to support a new political direction anchored on equity, transparency, and collective progress. The party further highlighted its intention to foster a political culture that ensures the active involvement of citizens and strengthens democratic institutions nationwide.
