Lecturers Commence Indefinite Strike In Benue University

Lecturers commenced indefinite strike in Benue State University, being coordinated by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Benue chapter, ASUU - BSU. The university is now known as Moses Orshio Adasu University.

The lecturers were led into the indefinite strike by ASUU in protest of the failure to address several welfare matters, which have lingered for considerable period of time.

State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Ali Sule Akor, and the State secretary, Daniel Chile, in a statement, explained that the strike became expedient, after neglect of these matters and the adverse effects they have had on welfare, moral and productivity of members.

Comrade Akor noted the National Executive Council, NEC, of the Union gave the permission and approval to proceed, despite extensive deliberations on persistent and unresolved welfare issues affecting members.

The Union called on the state government to take urgent step and address the welfare issues.
