Gunmen Release Kidnapped Nigerians, Dutch Nationals Still Missing
Barely forty eight hours after suspected kidnappers abducted three Dutch Nationals and two Nigerians, who were on a fact finding mission to the Dodo river community, a boundary town between Delta and Bayelsa state.
Two of the Nigerians namely Comrade Sunny Ofehe, who is the National coordinator Hope for Niger Delta in the Netherlands and facilitator of the visit, including the director of the Netherland based Africa web TV Femi Soewu has been released by their abductors.
Addressing journalists at an undisclosed location in Warri after their release, comrade Sunny Ofehe stated that they were abducted on their way back to Warri, as the kidnappers were shooting sporadically.
Speaking further, he stated that his abductors said they carried out the abduction of the expatriate because of unemployment, and call on the kidnappers to release the three Dutch Nationals.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the Delta waterways as security agents patrol the waterways, in search of the Dutch Nationals who held a press briefing with journalists in Warri before their abduction.
Also speaking, the director of the Netherland based Africa web TV Femi Soewu who was released by the kidnappers after his cameras was seized, stressed that they were assured of protection by the communities before they embarked on the journey.
It will be recalled that the three abducted Dutch Nationals and some community youths had addressed journalists in Warri on their mission
to the Niger Delta before they were kidnapped at Letugbene community.
No ransom has been demanded as at the time of filing this report.
