There are indications of increasing disaffection in Benue State as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, transferred the Benue State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Professor Sam Egwu, to Plateau State.

The disaffection emanating from the deepened the mutual distrust and suspicion of the Commission by the people. This has overall multiplier effect on the trust deficit of the INEC in the open society.

The departing Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Egwu, handed over notes to the acting Administrative Secretary, Sim Shikfu Bewaran, in his office at the State Headquarters, Makurdi.

Heads of Departments, the Staff Establishment Officer, and the Public Affairs Officer were present at the handover ceremony.
