Yakubu joins third-tier Coventry City on short-term deal
Former Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni has signed a short term deal with English League One club Coventry City.
The 34-year-old former Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton and Blackburn Rovers striker has been training with the Sky Blues for over a week and is expected to provide much-needed firepower to the third-tier club.
Russell Slade told the official Coventry City website: “We’re pleased to have secured the signing of Yakubu, who brings vast experience and a terrific goal record.Yakubu scored 96 goals in 253 Premier League appearances and also bagged 11 goals in 20 league appearances during a brief spell on loan at Leicester City.He played for Chinese Super League's Guangzhou Evergrande where he netted 24 times in 43 appearances.Yakubu had a brief spell in Turkey last season atSuper Lig outfit Kayserispor before returning to England with the Sky Blues
