Protesters Storm NNPC, Demand Transparency in pipelines Surveillance Probe

The Coalition for Better Nigeria has stormed the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, demanding full transparency in the ongoing probe of oil pipeline surveillance contracts, raising concerns over the alleged ₦2.1 trillion involved.

At a peaceful rally at the NNPCL Towers in Abuja, demonstrators carried placards with various inscriptions, calling for the decentralization of Pipeline Surveillance Contract, among others.

Speaking at the rally, the Coalition’s Spokesperson, Yahaya Garba, alleged irregularities in contracts awarded to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, and Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited, claiming the latter is linked to multiple pipeline monitoring operations across the Niger Delta.

The group urged the Presidency, security agencies, and the National Assembly to ensure a thorough investigation, insisting that Nigerians must be fully informed on how public funds are spent.

It also called for broader inclusion of stakeholders across the nine Niger Delta states to enhance transparency and efficiency in pipeline surveillance.

The Coalition further demanded investigations into Engineer Matthew Tonlagha of Maton Nigeria Company, and Muhammad Usman of NEPL over their alleged roles in the contracts.
