Kogi Auto Crash: Kogi Assembly Speaker involved In Accident, Escourt Dead
Barely one week after the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris was involved in an auto crash which claimed the live of his ADC, another tragedy occurred yesterday when the convoy of the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly was involved in a motor accident along Okene-Lokoja road leading to the death of a police Constable.
Nigerian Compass gathered from sources that the Speaker was returning from Okene when a long truck was involved in an accident with the vehicle in which the police Constable, Akeem Lamidi and others were travelling.
It was gathered that Lamidi was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja for treatment.
At the Hospital while receiving to treatment, Lamidi who hails from Erin Ile in Oyun Local government area of Kwara state was quoted to have expressed thanks to God for sparing him.
But unfortunately he gave up the ghost at the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja yesterday.
It was gathered that before he finally gave up the ghost, he was said to have shouted that "they have come, they have come."
The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of Kogi state House of Assembly, Mr. Austin Akubo confirmed that the police escort died yesterday morning at Federal Medical Centre.
His words, “The Speaker's vehicle was not affected. He is hale and hearty. The Speaker, Alhaji Momoh Jimoh was ready to take him to the best hospital in Nigeria for the best medication. But unfortunately, he gave up the ghost this morning."
However his remains have been taken to his home town in Erin Ile, Kwara state for burial yesterday.
It would be recalled that the convoy of the Governor was involved in ghastly motor accident on 28th December, 2012, and the ADC died on the spot.
