From Geneva To Ogwashi-Uku, Moment Of Cultural Fame Of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, WTO D.G.
The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, WTO, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, came to Nigeria for the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit in Asaba, Delta State, South-South Nigeria, but went back to Geneva with indelible memory of home coming.
Before attending the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, Okonjo-Iweala extended her presence in Nigeria to visit her country home, Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South LGA. She arrived into the waiting cultural reception of women in the family. She was elated by the cultural bond and the high profile of her personality displayed by women in the family. She could be heard greeting the women in home language, or vernacular if you like.
After the Summit, the women were at the Asaba Airport, to bid her goodbye. She departed with indelible memory of home coming.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Keynote Speaker at the Summit, was accompanied by her brother, HM Obi of Ogwashi-Ukwu, Dr. Ifechukwude Okonjo; including Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, H.E. Chiedu Ebie; and Managing Director, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, among others.
In attendance were also Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Charles Chukwuma
Soludo of Anambra State, including the Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos Garcete, leading a delegation of Brazilian investors.
