Delta Navy Destroys Illegal Refineries, Arrest 5 Suspects
In line with the zero tolerance initiative of the chief of the Naval staff Admiral Usman Jubril on illegalities in the Nigerian territorial waters, the Nigerian Navy Delta state command have destroyed over fifty illegal refineries and arrested five suspects at Oteghele community in Warri South West local government area of the state.
The operation which started as early as 3am in the morning was led by the commander NNS Delta Captain Musa Gemu, who led journalists around the creeks of the illegal refinery covering over a hundred acres of land.
Addressing journalists after setting the illegal refineries and over a hundred thousand metric tonnes of substance suspected to be diesel ablaze, Captain Musa stressed that the operation was a successful one, and that it was purely a Naval affair.
Speaking further, he stated that they are winning the war on oil theft, and that the arrested suspects will be handed over to the EFCC for prosecution.
Meanwhile, two of the five suspects which includes two women narrated to newsmen that it was their first time in the business.
