Constituency Delineation: Pandemonium in INEC As Thugs Attack Protesting Itsekiri Youths

Breaking news:

Pandemonium broke out at the National Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Abuja, as thugs allegedly hired by yet-to-be-identified persons, attacked

Ugbarajo Itsekiri Youths protesting, what they described as unjust delineation of Warri federal constituency in Delta State.

The Itsekiri youths, numbering about 200, had converged on INEC Headquarters in Abuja, demanding justice from the commission.

They carried placards with different inscriptions, including "INEC must protect indigenous communities", "Warri federal constituency is not for sale", "Justice for Itsekiri Communities Now", and "Dollars Cannot Buy Our Land".

But as the protest continued, thugs swooped on them with sticks, destroying their placards in the process.

A frightened INEC National Commissioner, Prof Abdullahi Zuru, and journalists scampered for safety and retreated.

The INEC Cimmossioner later came back and addressed the protesters, with an assurance that the matter is already before the office of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and he is looking into it.

The Legal Adviser of Itsekiri Youths Worldwide, Solomon Ogholaja; National Secretary, Laura Oritseweyinmi, and Secretary-General, Jakpah Jolomi, vowed to lay down their lives to get justice from INEC and the Nigerian Government.
