ADC Amends Constitution, Ratifies NEC Meeting

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has amended its constitution, following a decisive vote at its national convention in Abuja.

Chairman of the Electoral Sub-Committee and former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, announced that 1,471 of 1,576 accredited delegates voted in favour of the amendment, representing 94 per cent, formally adopting the changes.

Resolutions from the 97th to 99th NEC meetings were also ratified, with Legal Committee Chairman, Olumide Apata, and National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, outlining key decisions, including waivers on membership requirements and suspension of zoning rules.

The convention also ratified the dissolution of the Ralph Nwosu-led National Working Committee, NWC, handing over to a new leadership under National Chairman, David Mark, who described the exercise as a strong start to the party’s 2027 ambitions.

Several members, including Nafiu Bala and Leke Abejide, were expelled over alleged anti-party activities, as prominent figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi, raised concerns over democracy, rising debt, and insecurity under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
