The National Orientation Agency has raised an alarm over series of irregularities trailing the on going voters registration in the country calling on all stakeholders to ensure the success of the exercise.

The Director of the Agency in Ogun State, Sola Babalola while speaking in Abeokuta during a sensitisation programme on voters registration said effective voter register is important for any election.

‎The National Orientation Agency has declared that the  irregularities being recorded in the ongoing voters registration across the country will have implication on the 2015 general election.

Already, the exercise is on going in some state‎s in Nigeria, with series of complaint, which bother on insufficient materials from the Independent National Electoral Commission, by the prospective voters.

Speaking during a sensitisation workshop on voters education in Abeokuta, the Director of the National Orientation Agency in Ogun State, Sola Babalola stated that the agency, in conjunction with others ‎had embarked on intensive enlightenment for Nigerians on the need for them to register during the on goin exercise.

He maintained that an accurate and effective voters registration was central to the success of any election‎ stressing that the Independent National Electoral Commission and other relevant bodies must ensure that the hiccups being experience in the ongoing exercise must be quickly resolved.

‎Babalola appealed to all Nigerians to support the electoral body ahead of the general election as all stakeholders, including voters have vital role to play for the success of the poll. He appealed to politicians in the country to play the game according to it rule and refrain from using the youths as political thugs before, during and after the poll.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State Sam Olumekun, who was ‎represented by the commission Education officer in Abeokuta south, Adeola Adejumo said despite the arrangement made by the commission, some indigenes of the state, who had been registered failed to turn up to collect their voters cards.

While emphasising the importance of the card‎, $olumekun enjoined those who are yet to get their permanent voters card to go to the office of the electoral body in their respective local government noting that, the Independent National Electoral Commission has no intension to disenfranchise anyone.

On security, the state police command assured residents of the state of it determination to ensure adequate protection before, during and after the poll saying the command was ready to collaborate with other security agencies in the state in this direction.

The commissioner of police in the state, ikemefuna okoye, who was ‎represented at the event by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Adekunle Sowo, called for the support and cooperation of the people in order to ensure hitch free poll.
