Members of the Oyo State House of Assembly have rejected public demand for negotiation with bandits over kidnapped pupils, students and teachers from community schools in Ahoro-Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area, on Friday, May 15, 2026.

The lawmakers insisted on strengthening security for rescue operations to secure the release of the kidnapped victims in Oyo State.

The kidnapping incident and the beheading of a principal in the forest by the bandits have preciptiated protest by teachers in various states across the country.
