Travellers stranded on Warri/Benin expressway

Hundreds of passengers travelling from Warri to Benin and the south-west have been stranded for several hours over the failed portion of the highway in Delta state.

The travellers which include those travelling from Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta state, watched helplessly as vehicular traffic build-up amid fallen trucks on the road which have now been washed away as a result of continuous rainfall.

Some of the stranded passengers who had to come out of vehicles after remaining on the same spot for hours spoke with Galaxy news on what they face on the highway.

Others who spoke called on the Delta state government to intervene as they lament alleged sharp practices by government agencies.

Meanwhile, despite the failed portion of the road which is giving motorists concern, the Delta state government is yet to come out with a statement if they will assist the federal government as done by former Governor James Ibori whose administration fixed the road over a decade ago.
