Tinubu Writes Senate, Seeks Confirmation of Onwudiwe As CBN Board Member
The Nigerian Senate has received communication from President Bola Tinubu to screen and confirm the appointment of Rubby Onwudiwe as a Member of the Board of Directors for the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Galaxy tv reports that Tinubu's request is contained in a letter read by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio at the commencement of plenary on Wednesday's plenary.
According to the letter, the nomination is in Compliance with the provisions of section 10(1) of the CBN Establishment Act 2007. Onwudiwe is to replace Urum Eke who was earlier announced for the position to represent the South-East on the CBN board which he rejected due to other engagements.
The matter was thereafter referred to the Senate Committee on Banking and other Financial Institutions for further legislative action.
