Obi Visits Senator Dickson
A prominent member, and potential frontline presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, paid a courtesy visit to Senator Seriake Dickson, former Governor of Bayelsa State.
Senator Dickson disclosed that they both had deliberations on national issues, and they reaffirmed their commitment to the progress and unity of Nigeria.
The Senator expressed concerns over the attempted assassination of Obi and other ADC leaders at the residence of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun in Benin City, Edo State. He demanded the federal government and security agencies to bring the perpetrators to book and forestall reoccurrence.
Dickson highlighted in a brief statement:
"Today, it was a pleasure to receive His Excellency, Peter Obi, on a courtesy visit.
"We had a warm and engaging discussion on national issues and reaffirmed our shared commitment to Nigeria’s progress and unity.
"I commiserated with him over the dastardly attempt to intimidate or assassinate opposition leaders at the private residence of His Excellency, Chief Oyegun, an 85-year-old elder statesman in Benin.
"I expressed my concerns to Mr. Obi and others affected, and I expressed hope that the Federal Government and security agencies will bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure that such an act never occurs again, either in Benin City or anywhere else in Nigeria.
"I also thanked him for visiting my village and attending the funeral of our late Deputy Governor.
"Similarly, I received the three PDP opposition members, led by the Minority Leader, Hon. Ted Elemeforo, who came to visit me.
"I thank them for the visit and their solidarity, and I wish them well. — HSD"
