Obi Decries Leadership Competence Deficit, Lack of Capacity, Plaguing Nigeria

The Presidential Candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 General Elections, Peter Obi, on a visit to the Dominican University, decried the chronic deficit of competence, lack of capacity, and compassion in leadership, plaguing Nigeria.

Obi, accordingly, challenged Nigerian students to take full ownership of their destiny and contribute to national development.

He donated ₦30 million for the development of the University.

Obi highlighted the paradox of Nigeria being among the world's hungriest nations despite having 60% of its land uncultivated.

He stated that the era of relying on international globalization has ended, noting that the continent is being told to go back home and develop from the grassroots.

Obi blamed the nation's struggles not on a lack of resources, but on leadership competence deficit, among others, warning that the current level of poverty and unemployment is not to be tolerated in any other country.

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, chieftain encouraged students to look toward agriculture as the new oil venture, adding that, the Netherlands, a country roughly the size of Niger State, exports over $130 billion in agricultural products annually, three times what Nigeria earns from oil.

He compared the potentials of the Sambisa Forest with Israel, which exports food despite having a landmass one-third the size of the forest.

Father, Dr Augustine Agwulonu, an Erudite scholar in the citadel of learning, described Peter Obi as a leader; indeed, who have interest in national development.
