The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has projected a total number of two Million Applicants for financial support by October this year for the 2025/26 Academic Session. The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Fund, Akintunde Sawyerr, made the disclosure in an exclusive interview with Galaxy News in Abuja.

Recall that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, had few days ago announced the opening of the portal for loan applications for the 2025/26 Academic Session. Giving an outlook of the 2025/26 Projections of the Agency, Sawyer disclosed that the fund had registered a total of 971 Applicants since its inception with about 620 Beneficiaries adding that NELFUND now target a total of 2 Million Applicants by October this year.

Speaking further, the Sawyer revealed that the Agency is seriously working on its Vocational and Skills Development programmes adding that the scheme has been able to provide loan for a significant number of Nigerians in the secondary institutions.

He posited that the trajectory in the Nigerian Tertiary Institutions has changed with the establishment of NELFUND stressing that, institutions can now plan and execute various projects with an assurance that the payment of fees is assured.

The NELFUND Fund commended the initiative of President Bola Tinubu for the establishment of NELFUND which has encouraged so many Nigerians. Also, he thanked heads of various institutions in Nigeria for the support and collaboration at all times.
